Propelling the Interiorscape Industry Forward

Green Plants for Green Buildings (GPGB) remains unshakably focused on the objective of securing those ever-evasive LEED points. It also has formed committees to address two related fronts—establishing sustainability standards and building a network of New Market Media infrastructure channels.

An investigation on how to establish a set of sustainability standards for the interior industry is currently underway. These standards would serve to elevate the industry's green image and help greatly as we petition the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) powers-that-be to hear our message.

Efforts are also underway to create a sound strategy focused on building a network of New Market Media infrastructure channels. There are many avenues within this strategy that may afford exposure opportunities for all participating in the Interior Industry Coalition (IIC). We anticipate moving forward with a progressive, professiona groundswell digital messaging program, including mechanisms and channels such as E-zines, Blogs, and Podcasts interlaced with Social media outlets such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and so forth to generate a critical mass of awareness across all sectors. This is exciting, cutting-edge marketing that should allow us to connect with the rapidly growing number of folks out there who use these communication tools as part of their daily living.

GBGP is truly interested in any feedback you have that may assist these two committees to ofer real value to your membership as well as your thoughts on how we can work together to help GBGP propel our industry forward!

In the meantime, we will be taking the message on the road to Orlando for our seventh year, successfully exhibiting at the International Facility Managers Association (IFMA) World Workplace show. Each year we obtain better booth positioning, and this year we are in the first row upon entering the Expo show doors. In addition, we are optimistically awaiting approval for a four-hour workshop on the benefits of plants for the key target audience attending this year's USGBC Greenbuild Expo.

We are looking forward to sharing our like objectives and unlocking the vast creative resources inherent in this group on June 26, 2009, at the IIC meeting in Stevenson Washington, at the PLANET Summer Leadership Meeting.  It is inevitable that with a common vision and this exceptional blend of industry minds we will leave Washington with an unstoppable range of innovative action plans certain to launch prosperity and position across all industry sectors. We hope to see all of you there.
